Over the next few weeks, we will hear the phrase, A New Year, A New You! Many of us will start new dieting programs, exercise programs, work habits, change of thoughts, _____ fill in the blank…. and the list goes on and on. Some of us will keep this new way of doing things for a few days and some may be for a long time, it depends on how determined we are.
But there is a better way to have a better New Year and a New You experience – it is found only in Christ Jesus. 2 Cor 5:17 – tells us that if any man is in Christ he is a New Creation; note this is if you are In Christ, you are a New Creation. Not that one day you will be, but Now you are a New Creation! He tells us that; the old way of doing life will be gone and a Fresh New way of doing life will come. A life in Christ empowered by the Holy Spirit.
In Isaiah 43:18, we are told, “Do not call to mind the former things or ponder things in the past” Why because God wants to do something new, and that New for us is found in Christ Jesus. Being Redeemed and called His own because He Loves us. (Is. 43:1-4). God gave His only Son Jesus to be a ransom for our lives in order that we may become His sons and daughters through a new birth. (Jn 3:16)
Therefore, as the new year starts, may we who are in Christ, press on to take hold of that which has taken hold of us, Christ Jesus (Phil. 3:12) Looking unto Jesus who is the author of our Faith/Trusting (Heb. 12:2)
As we do this we will know what God wants and we will agree that what He wants is good, because our minds are being transformed as we walk by faith/trust in God and not faith/trust in the ways of this world (Rom 12:1-2)
