The Enemy brings up thoughts from our past to keep us stuck in a thought loop. Through new events he keeps that loop growing with more condemning and selfish thoughts. He will have us thinking and condemning ourselves through such thoughts to keep us from experiencing Victory and therefore impacting the very thing God is wanting to do in and through us!

The power for freedom is found only through the Cross of Christ!

For through the Cross of Christ:

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2a)

To not to conform to the patterns of this world in simple terms is not according to worldly logic (point of view) or selfishness (how can this benefit me?).

It is a life of faith, walking by what we cannot see rather that what we see.

Logic says that when these thoughts come to mind then I do this behavior (a crutch, a habit, patterns, coping mechanisms, ……). Faith in action says, “thoughts come to mind, I take those thoughts captive and surrender them to God and by faith, I trust that God will lead me in actions that will glorify Him.”

This is the renewing of the mind, not continuing to walk down a familiar road map but by reading God’s Word, listening to the Holy Spirit, and trusting God to create a New Path for us to travel as “He” leads us.

This may be completely opposite of what feels good, looks good, and most rewarding but it is a path created by God. Being obedient to God is all that matters!

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. (Ps 37:23)

Then we can prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect..

Now when the enemy brings up those thoughts, our response will be different:

Thoughts come, we evaluate them by what happened at the Cross of Christ (old me die and raise to new life in Christ), then we choose to walk by Faith trusting God to guide each step.

knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin (Romans 6:6)

For we walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Cor. 5:7)

May we trust what God has written in His word more than anything else. For God knows everything and therefore we can trust Him to lead us to His perfect will for our lives.

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father excepts through me. The way to victory in our thought life comes only through Jesus Christ!
